OTWAY, JOHN.
Vocals.
One of the Aylesbury Art-Rock set. Otway has had little impact on the music scene, even
although he has recorded steadily through the last three decades. Best remembered by many
for his mad-cap partnership with "Wild" Willy Barrett, Otway's work has matured into a
sharper, more acerbic sound as a solo artist.
His habit of covering some songs on each album has often led to manic masterpieces like
his version of "The Green Green Grass Of Home" but his own work shows little sign of such
longevity. Some of his songs, like "Really Free" may have seemed hillarious during the
dope hazed days of the seventies but are now mildly embarassing at best.
