The Beatles Liverpool

The Dooley Statue.

The Dooley Statue
This sculpture by local artist Arthur Dooley was erected in 1974. The Beatles are shown as four cherubs made from plastic childrens' dolls.
Over the years it has suffered vandalism and neglect. The figure representing Paul mysteriously disappeared. It was never replaced, merely referred to on a plaque alongside in the words, "Paul has taken wings and flown"
The small figure on the bottom right carries a guitar and is surrounded by a halo with the words, "Lennon Lives". It was erected after John's assasination in 1980.
