Hessy's Music Store.

Hessy's Music Store
Situated only a few hundred yards across the street from Rushworth's, Hessy's were Liverpool's other main supplier of musical instruments. The shop was run by Frank Hessy, ably assisted by Jim Gretty.
Gretty was the man who sold John his first real guitar for £ 17 in 1957. As a salesman he prided himself in the fact that he would give any purchaser a free lesson of the three basic chords. It's not known if John made use of his free lesson.
After becoming the Beatles' manager, one of Brian's first tasks was to settle the outstanding credit due to Hessy's for the group's instruments. The sum amounted to £ 200 - thousands of pounds by today's standards.
